I came to the conclusion long ago that nuclear fission
was needed to power our cities, industry and travel.
I also realized that to reduce our carbon footprint across
the board, we'd need a full electric society. Everything
that can be powered by CLEAN electricity should be.
And with that much demand for clean electric power
nuclear fission has done this job safely for decades.
We need MORE of it. To do this, electricity must be
so inexpensive that it would seem silly to use expensive
fossil fuels. Nuclear can do this.
Switching to a full electric society also creates jobs
in designing, building and installing new products to
convert from fossil fuel use to electric power. This
will boost economies as well with good paying jobs.
Mostly, we don't even need miracle inventions -
existing technology, some of it quite well established,
can be swiftly integrated - if only electricity was CHEAP
and CLEAN it could be put in place immediately.
Back when I had this epiphany, the so called "data centers"
were unheard of. Now these power hungry monsters are
popping up around the world like spring dandelions.
They are driving up the cost of electricity as their grid
load has to be made up - and that leaves the lower cost
providers struggling while the higher priced fossil fuel
providers kick in to make up the gap in demand. We
all pay this price. This also sets us back on our need
to become an all-electric society. The sooner nuclear
fission power can fill the base load need of our grids
the better off we will be.
